Meet The Team
CrossFit Level 1
Hey everyone! My name is Emmanuel, but Manny is much easier to remember so that is what I normally go by. I grew up as an Army brat and have traveled most of the southern region of the US with my family while growing up. It obviously inspired me to join the military. So at the age of 19 I enlisted into the U.S Navy and completed two contracts before finally separating on February 4th of 2017. I served in a Construction Battalion and on the USS Bunker Hill stationed out of San Diego, CA. During that time I was deployed 4 times and the most notable place was Djibouti, Africa. This is where I joined my first CrossFit affiliate in July 2014. I instantly fell in love with the sport and the community, especially when I couldn’t find much to enjoy while moving dumbbells in a globo-gym environment. I’ve continued to pursue excellence in all areas of this form of fitness, not just for competitive sport, but for overall health. I feel better now then I ever have in my 26 years of of living and look forward to helping everyone else achieve whatever goals they may set as we strive and grow as a family and a community! See you on the platforms!
CrossFit Level 1
I was born an Air Force brat in Alaska and spent time growing up in a number of different places, most notably Nebraska and Texas. I spent most of my life being a multi-sport athlete (Soccer, Basketball, Swimming & Baseball) but fell out of the active lifestyle. Eventually 12+ hour production days, combined with unlimited access to the craft service dept caught up with me in no time. In 2014 I stumbled on to CrossFit, but it wasn’t until 2016 that I got enough nerve to walk in the door for the first time and never looked back.
When I’m not at Lanista, you can find me pushing myself on the OCR course, catching a film, attending Comic-Con, or just relaxing reading a good book.
In the gym and outside it I always strive to bring positivity and humor to what I do, but know that I take my coaching seriously and will do all I can to help you to achieve your goals
Crossfit Level 1
I was born on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Shortly after I was born my family moved west to New Mexico. We found ourselves in Tucson in 2002, and have remained here ever since. I graduated from Cienega High School in 2013, and moved immediately to Mississippi to pursue an Electrical Engineering Degree at Jackson State University. I started my CrossFit journey with Lanista in summer 2016, and continued to fall in love with its ideology at Crossfit JXN in Mississippi.
When I’m not in the gym coaching or working out, you’ll find me on the rugby field with the Old Pueblo Lions or out in the mountains on my dirt bike. Although I take my coaching extremely seriously, you won’t be surprised to see me dancing to any and every song that comes on, and just adding some kind of life to the party.

CrossFit Level 1
I was born and raised in Autlan, Jalisco, Mexico (the state where REAL tequila comes from). I moved to America in 2002, at the age of 25. Fast forward 11 years to March of 2013, the month my husband made me join a CrossFit gym for the first time. There I was, unfit, trapped into unhealthy diet habits created during my university years that rewarded me with my Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesia and a fluffy body. Four and a half years later, I am passionate about the sport of CrossFit. CrossFit has changed my life in many different levels. Crossfit has given me self-confidence to the point where I believe anything we set our minds to as a goal is totally achievable.

Growing up in West Texas, football is something that ran through my veins from a young age. I started strength training at the age of 12 and fitness has been a part of my life ever since. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a master's in Counseling and Human Development, I started my coaching career as a strength coach at my alma mater, Hardin Simmons University in 2012. CrossFit came into my life later that year and I fell in love with Olympic lifting and the community that CrossFit embodies. Shortly after, I started training on a team with whom I was able to compete at Regionals in 2015 and 2016, moving on to the CrossFit Games in 2016. I took a new position in the fall of 2016 as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Air Force with a Special Operations unit. I am proud to serve the men and women that provide our freedom and thankful for the new experiences it has brought to my career. I have worked with a wide array of ages, fitness levels, and training methodologies - allowing me to have the knowledge to tailor programs to any individual’s needs. With a thirst to continually expand my education, I am adamant about learning the best methods the fitness and athletic world has to offer so I can pass them onto the athletes I work with.
Head Nutrition Coach
Born and raised in Tucson. Graduated CDO in 1989. Spent 4 years in the Army as a Russian Linguist. Then I went to the UofA and got a business degree. Didn't do anything with it, but I did end up selling timeshares in Puerto Vallarta for a few years. That is where I met Silvia and the rest, as they say, is history.
I started doing CrossFit in 2013 at 290+ lbs. Over the next four years I fell in love with CrossFit and during that time I got down to 226 lbs through strict nutrition and fitness.
Silvia and I have been members of CrossFit Lanista since they opened their doors in 2015. We love Lanista and the community and jumped at the chance to purchase it in October, 2017.
I am no longer 226 lbs and continue to struggle with my weight (as many of us do). But I am starting with our Nutrition Program and expect to start my weight moving back in the right direction.
